The Socom 16 CQB is not just a smaller and more maneuverable M1A; it’s been designed specifically to excel in close quarter applications. Nearly ten inches shorter than the M1A standard model, the CQB offers quick and easy handling for defensive use indoors or out.|

Pretty sweet looking close quarters weapon.

I guess...

if I get an M1A it's going to be wood and steel
and who uses 308 for a close quarters weapon?

This - I just wish the top piece wasn't brown plastic.

Man if you're gonna spend the money on an M1A you gotta get the wood and steel.

I've always wanted one but can't find a good reason to buy it.

I am in love with the LRB m25. Money is why I do not buy it though.

With how much they hyped up the "new release," it is a gargantuan letdown

yeah this seems like a solution in search of a problem, or more tacticoll BS marketing, or both. i've no doubt its a well made reliable rifle but i cant think of a single reason i'd buy it

It's not that bad, I'd rather have a traditional socom or scout though.

I wouldn't. I am sure some people do. That said, I would love to own the PWS mk212, a .308 sbr.

My buddy has a SOCOM II kitted out exactly like this:

Great fun seated at the range, but heavy as hell. No way I'd want to handle it for an extended period of time.

I did a little "door kicking" in Iraq with my M14 after I broke my scope mount. I thought it would be awesome and it was. But it was heavy, very heavy. It was like clearing corners with a musket.

What was your issued ammo over there? Also, what kind of damage was expected at close range? I only ask because I remember talking to someone who shot a dude point blank with the MK11 shooting 190 grain subs and he said it about tore the dude in half.

I'd rather them release a model with ruger mini-14 style scope mount provisions cut into the receiver. I might want one if there was a good factory scope mount option.

Can't justify the money for a fun gun.
