Recently saw a commercial for the new Sea-Doo Spark Jetski. Says they can start as low as $5,000.

From what I saw when they first came out they are low powered, low weight, low price jet skis. I think they top out at like 50 mph or something. I would probably be fine with that until someone passed me going 70+. I think they are supposed to be really good on gas compared to a regular ski. But I would assume they require a good bit of maintenance like a real ski.

its being pulled by what looks like a prius in the commercial... no one needs to own anything able to be towed by a prius

Starting to see a few of them around our lake, I havent looked at any of them up close other than at the boat show. The 5K version is going to be barebones and under powered. Even with the "upgrade" engine, I'd only get the two seat model. By time you add the basic features they go to $7K pretty fast.

i have one. it gets up and moves because of its low weight, but runs out of steam at 50 mph. Its not bad for the price I suppose.

I think they are kind of boring after the first 30 minutes but I feel that way about all jet skis. I basically use it (which is hardly ever) to meet friends on the lake and/or let other people use it.

Only place I enjoy jetskiing is out of the pass in Destin on the west side where the water is brown and the huge rollers come in. Fun as can be.
