Ive taken it from the poli board.
Below is the excerpt that really burns my nads.

quote:

Perhaps the best argument in favor of limiting ammunition, though, is this. The mantra of firearms advocates is the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which reads:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

It doesn't say a single thing about the right to own bullets. At the time of the adoption of the Constitution, bullets were largely inert slugs, loaded into flint-lock muskets propelled with loose gunpowder packed into the muzzle. There was no need to assure the right to ammunition, which may be the loophole the government needs to dramatically curtail the scourge of gun violence.

Bear all the arms you want. Make your own at home. Without a bullet to fire from it -- or, at the very least, far, far fewer bullets -- we can achieve what the Founding Fathers really sought: a stable, secure nation.

I think the Supreme Court has already ruled that bullets were protected under the 2nd amendment too.

I could be wrong and I am too lazy to go look it up at this present juncture.

Some of the comments:

"The author of this article doesn't sound familiar with cartridge reloading at all..."

"It doesn't take nearly as much time as you clearly imagine--by the way, a bullet is part of a round of ammunition which also includes: a cartridge, a primer and powder as well as a bullet which is made of lead (sometimes with a copper coating). You really should learn more about something before you willy-nilly write about. As a journalist myself, I know that is simply doing the job."

And... Wait for it...

"Yeah, except no one's ever heard of you. Like how I'm a porn star."

Obviously limiting the second amendment would be the intent of any law that targeted ammo in any way IMO.

What gets me is the last sentence. The author of the article truly believes that he above anyone else knows what the founding Fathers meant. As if to say they made a mistake but he can clarify.

What an asshat. Its scary how many others probably agree with this clown

I remember reading that the supreme court ruled that ammunition was included in the 2nd ammendment.

And how many believed Al Sharpton when he said on national TV that these semiautomatic weapons can shoot down planes and blow up train tracks.

This is what has been said, they want to limit ammo, background checks for ammo, ammo limits , no online ammo sales etc etc, result: go buy your loading press today and stock up with raw materials. As crazy as it sounds I want ten years of powder and primers(i have about 18000 primers and 20lbs of powder but am buying more and more everyday) I do not cast boolits yet, but I am about to stockpile lead and have all the moulds for the calibers I own. Reloaders will be the moonshiners of the next century when we are bootlegging ammo for our friends and family. I know some reloaders here in Nevada are so paranoid they have actually created reloading caches in the backcountry.

Nothing racist about that thought at all. The man proves himself to be an idiot every time he opens his mouth.

This is already going on. I tried to buy .40 and .38 spl rounds yesterday and could find 0. People are already stockpiling thanks to frickstick journalist like this person. It won't happen; when I was a freshman in college a professor said that the most powerful PAC in politics was the NRA. They still may be but I made my decision. Make yours. You want to defend your 2nd admin rights, join the NRA!! I'll get off my soap box now. GO DAWGS!!!!

The assault on ammo is a freak out response to the printable gun movement.

Gotta say, I'm 100% on board with this.

I know nothing about reloading, much less casting, but I have begun educating and supplying myself.

I was just flipping channels and saw Gabby Giffords idiot husband on foxnews sunday. I thought you had to be military before you could be an astronaut but the way this coward spoke, between the ignorance and bumbling of his arguement Im not so sure. God help us if this is the next generation of political leadership. Land of the free, home of the brave is quickly becomming Land of the ignorant, home of the coward.
