I use braid for some things, like saltwater and punching/frogs/jigs, but I wouldn't want to use it for everything. That stretch from mono is good sometimes.
Well yeah, but my perspective is almost 100% inshore saltwater. FWIW, sometimes I use a flouro leader, which provides the stretch. Also, if fishing FL or some other area with extremely clear water, I might tie on a flouro leader. But the only reason I would have to fish mono is worm fishing for bass.

I filled my spool with PP for the first time and didnt put a mono backing, will I have problems? Never used braid before
No. In the past, (WAY past), some reels...allegedly...would be scarred by the braid digging into the spool. Unless you have a serious POS reel, this is not a problem. I haven't used a backing in eons...like 8 years or so...with no issues.

I try to buy everything cheap, but it isn't always possible. Even when I buy quality, I try to spend as little as humanly possible. I don't care about the "Cadillac effect."

does this count? car washes--i don't buy them at all and i don't wash my cars myself.

knives too. e.g., wal-mart filet knife--works just fine for cleaning fish while camping. i have a SAG multitool that weight like 10lbs. i hardly use it.

i should buy more cheap sunglasses--they're the only ones i don't lose. e.g., i have a pair of weird Bono-looking sunglasses i added to a steepandcheap order for $5 three years ago, for shits and giggles. they're totally ridiculous looking but i can't lose them. they popped up again in my truck today! but my costas got ganked by a valet of course.

It used to be saltwater hardbaits, specifically the H2O brand, but never caught one fish on em. I've been tearing up the fish with mirrolures. They cost twice as much as the H2O's but the result is better than twice as effective.
