Lifelong duck hunter in the area, this will be the be first weekend I miss in four years....

Anybody else notice the amount of hunters out there this year? The boat launch and public camp canals are literally choked up with people we've never seen in that area before. What used to be a "hard to navigate/exclusive/fruitful area" to hunt has turned into a shat show of GPS fly night duck hunters. Note: Opening weekend, we had people hunting in both my blinds. Still limited out but; none the less, aggravating to deal with.

I also noticed people aren't hunting Flat Lake like they used to, maybe that explains the influx? Either way on season's like this, I kinda miss the "pre-GPS" days of navigating the tree tops down the foggy Atchafalaya River and hardly ever seeing another hunter...

You built your blinds on a wma, I want to be sympathetic but it's public land.

this kind of shite has pushed me very close to no longer hunting public areas...I honestly don't see how more people don't get shot every year.

Why would you build a blind on public land? You're telling people who have no clue "hey this might be a good spot".

Lol...sounds like ole LarryGoose was hunting other people's blind on the opener? but nah it's not the first time thats happened either...people who hunt other people's blind deserve a hoop net in their prop. Like I said, its cool thought...there's other options out there but its still aggravating

Sounds like you don't understand the definition of public land.

Op is a great example of why permanent blind building should not be allowed on public lands. Glad I don't fight the circus.

You are not supposed to leave blinds up at the wax. Supposed to be deconstructed after the hunt as you do on all WMAs

I love it when people complain about the public hunting on public land.

North Louisiana has without a doubt the best public deer hunting in the state. Even though Jackson Bienville was lost there are still hundreds of thousands of acres of public land up there. If you bow hunt you couldn't ask for a better place to live

Union also shut down. I do bow hunt, a lot of older people who don't anymore only rifle hunt. Many kids don't bow hunt either yet. As far as public land, the options are narrowing, and most of these other public spots you are talking about there are very few rifle hunting days.

That's why the deer hunting is good

Still have long seasons on the other state WMAs. Plenty within an hour of anywhere in Louisiana

To each of his own, or however that saying goes. The general consensus here, especially in north central La, would disagree.

Ruston, the main part of kisatchie is about an hour and a half. The smaller part where I hunt also is about 45 minutes, bout 4-5,000 acres. Russel sage is just at an hour, darbonne is maybe 10,000 acres and mostly suited for just duck hunters.

JB was 32,000 acres, 10 minute drive
