I absolutely HATE hearing these stories. Was it salvageable enough to keep for display?

I have heard a lot of people talk about losing guns in Katrina. When we evacuated the first thing I loaded in the car was my guns. Was it that you thought you wouldn't have damage/flooding? It just seems like such a terrible loss that could have been avoided. I'm not trolling, just trying to understand what happened

Yes, I thought I lived far enough from the lake in Slidell to not get flooded. I stayed and I was wrong.

All guns in my safe were a total loss. 3 weeks in a wet, carpet-lined safe rusted the breaches and chambers beyond repair. Had 3 different gunsmiths look at them.
