The logic of starting early season on a Friday?

Someone help me out with this one, my hunting crew in Venice shot a easy limit Friday morning. I, because of real life obligations, couldn't get down till Saturday. Long story short, the birds moved out and the few that remained were decoy shy as all hell from being shot up the day before. I'm sure it was well thought out, but why start on a day when many of us have work or in my case school obligations?

My buddies also made a hunt in Venice on Saturday and killed their four man. Birds don't generally up and leave after being shot at one day. And teal especialy don't become decoy shy in one day.

Some days you just have a rough day

I've often seen them up and leave after one day of shooting. If you have ducks on Thursday and season opens on Friday, you cancel class.

Lol you skip class.

FWIW buddies shot 5 on Friday and 4 man limit in 20 minutes on Saturday, in Venice. Birds are fickle little creatures. Can't win em all.

Yeah but I've never tried to blame it on the shooting. Hell I've scouted hundreds of birds the day before hunting season opens and the next they are gone before any shooting ever happens

You should better prioritize your vacation days

For some reason it has to end in September. I fixed my real life obligations and our hunting sucked.

Took off work and got mauled by mosquitos. Only killer one teal. Saturday was much of the same.

Reason was because the beginning of the season sucked so bad last year, they wanted it to run as late as possible. Friday start allowed that to happen.

Didn't help us though. Not many teal down in Pass A Loutre WMA. Saturday we shot at a couple that were in questionable range while going somewhere else. Buddies near us shot a couple. Story was the same for most of the guys we talked to. One group had 9 on Friday and another had 11, but had to hunt almost all day. Limits were available around Baptiste Collette apparently.
