Looks like this buck has made a pretty good jump. Keep in mind, in the pics from last year he has 2+ weeks of growing on this years pics. Just thought it was pretty cool seeing what a year can do for a deer.

Fwiw I think this was him at 2.5 but not positive

How many years have y'all been feeding protein?

Asking since we just started year round almost 3 years ago.

I would have shot him, mounted him, and made love to his corpse last year

Definitely a stud - I'm jealous.
Just spent the weekend on a dozer preparing some new stands at our place. I think we'll start feeding protein next year.

When did y'all start seeing a good difference in rack production? We are seeing some good signs, but what I've read it really shows when you start seeing the bucks that are 4-5 years old that have been feeding on protein since they were yearlings.

Looks like he was wider when younger. Maybe just angle of pic.

It definitely took a few years to notice, but it also takes some level of good genetics to begin with. The things I think it affects the most are mass and the development of non-typical points. It isn't going to turn a would-be 140" deer into a 170" deer, but it will definitely help.

I noticed that too, he lost the double split g2's as well. Overall I think he will be a net+ gross this year over last though.

Yeah, the genetics are good where we are, just looking to help push nice deer to the next level.
