I am going to Iceland and will be doing a lot of exploring including visiting some waterfalls. They recommend some waterproof gear when doing some of these things so I am looking for some shoes or boot that will be suitable for a lot of walking and as waterproof as possible.

Get some Vasque GoreTex Leather boots. They will resole them for free when the time comes. When you get them, wear them as much as possible to break them in. FYI, Vasque is owned by RedWing.

I'm on my 3rd or 4th pair of gore tex Merrell Moabs. They hold up pretty well to daily wear + hiking and they fit my feet well.

Highly recommend Salewa. Newer company to the US market, but they are well established in Europe. Very comfortable and durable shoes and boots. Also come with the promise from the company that they will put you in another product that will fit better if you get a blister. The wildfire would be my suggestion. Comes in a mid cut boot or low cut shoe.

Edit:

The rubber compound they use in the sole and sole design are meant for slippery surfaces as well so that's an added bonus. Someone might want to double check me to be sure but I believe keen still offers some boot models with razor siping on the sole which will grip slick rocks better than anything. Keen is a much wider cut typically though.

Lots of suggestion to research in here, not really looking to spend $200 plus for the amount of use they will get, but looking at all options. Thanks everyone.

Merrell makes a nice trail tennis shoe that's fairly water proof unless your submerged.
