Anyone set limit on the temperature while hunting? I have the itch today, off work, but it is 84 right now and only going to get warmer. This afternoon hunt doesn't look very promising. Worst case check the cameras I guess.

We saw a lot of deer last weekend.

This weekend, nada. Was close to 90 on the Sat. afternoon hunt.

One thing that we forget as hunters- the deer don't have to do shite.
If it's uncomfortable for them, they can do their deal at night. Same goes for 4wheeler riding- pass close to that big guy, he's gonna stay put for a bit.

I do for ducks. I will usually pass on a hunt during big duck if it's gonna be hot. I can put up with that during teal season because it's supposed to be warm but hunting in the upper 70's and 80's for ducks sucks. I would rather go play 18.

I killed an 8 point when i was stripped down to my boxers cause it was so hot. You cant kill them of you dont go. The deer dont move as good in hot weather but they all have to get up and eat, drink, shite and piss.

If I'm not working and it's hunting season I'm going. Too few days off to miss an opportunity to be in the woods.

I have no desire to hunt in 80+ degree weather

well...I could hunt, but I have no desire dragging and dealing with a deer in that heat

I hunt public land, so no 4-wheelers

How do you get a deer out of public land if you are 2 miles deep in the woods? Thats the one thing keeping me from doing it. If I kill a 200lb deer there is no way I could drag that 200 yards through the woods much less 2 miles.

Is it legal to quarter it up in the woods to bring the meat out?

like a fricking man

last year me and a buddy doubled with 2 bucks, both weighing >200 lbs

it took us 3-4 hours to get both of those deer to the truck

A cart. Its a bitch. Gotta take your time and go around cypress knees because the axle will get caught on them. Helps to have someone with you walking in front to find the best way and kick the bigger limbs out of the way. Late season when the woods flood and you're pulling that cart through the mud and water, you really start to ask yourself why you like hunting so much.

Im assuming you cant quarter it to take it out.

I hunted the Wax, used to walk 600 yards in knee deep mud to carry branches and bamboo to set up a blind and then go back to get the guns and decoys. The hunting was fun but the ducks werent worth that much work so i havent been back.

I have a large sled (got them for duck hunting the wax by the way. Can't believe we use to walk in the marsh with decoys on our backs plus gear).

Well, I gave in today. It was 83 degrees, no wind, and made sure to have thick enough clothes to keep the skeeters off. Saw a young doe and a yearling right at 7. Really enjoyed it regardless of sweating my nuts off.

Mine is more of a bottom limit. If it's below 20 degrees at first light I'm sleeping till about 10, then hunting till dark after it warms up (relatively speaking).
