I like how they made it look like an old log, looks....natural.

15 years ago. There was a feeder called the nocturnal nightmare. Look for reviews on it, that might give you an idea how effective it is.

I wonder how often a raccoon gets closed up in it and just keeps eating.

I'm interested in feed back on this too. I know folks with feeders that have a heard of deer come out at 4pm when the feeder goes off while nearby deer never come out in the day time for feeders.

I thought it looked familiar. I'm guessing they bought the design from wildgame innovations. You literally can't find any info on the nocturnal nightmare feeder on the internet. Everything seems to redirect to the tectonic site...

My dad made a homemade knockoff version of this feeder for rice bran. Not 1 deer ever came remotely close to it. Lol

Did it look like a log? That might have been the problem.

No. Dad made one out of aluminum. It was just a rectangular box with a lid that closed at dark and opened at daylight. Photocell sensor, cheap 12v actuator and a battery. It was quite simple actually. But nothing ever went near it. We tried putting various baits and what not on the ground around it but nothing worked. Hogs wouldn't even go near it. My thought on it was that it would spook deer when it opened and closed but nothing ever got near it so I dunno.

More goofy shite. Could double as a coon trap.

I bet my bears would love it. They like challenges.
