Is there a reason the teal season starts on a Friday this year?

Great for me just not sure why

I believe it has to be during the month of September and since September 30th is a Saturday, they would rather it run from the 15th on a Friday to the 30th than start it on the 9th and run to the 24th. Since teal seem to be showing up later in better number recently, pushing the season as late as possible makes the most sense.

^ this.

Pretty big fan of it, especially since we've had record low pre-season surveys in recent years......the masses of birds just aren't here on the 2nd weekend in Sept.

Getting some reports of sightings, so time to get fired up!

How do I get into dove hunting? Any resources for a newbie.

I have access to a ton of commercial rice farm land in Texas a couple hours west of Houston and all the equipment I would ever need. Grew up duck hunting in La and trying to get into some new hunting now that I live in Houston.

Go to farmland. Bring seat. Bring beer. Profit.
