Biggest thing is positioning on shoulder. It feels weird.
But man, the natural feeling I had when finally looking down the barrell with my dominant was awesome.
Shooting right, I had to close my left eye so my right could see the line.
Surgery made it where I cannot independently close the left.
Now I shoot with both open yet the left takes over and I see down my barrel immediately. I could not believe this is what all my friends were seeing all of our lives hunting.

Find his dominant eye and let him shoot that way. He will have a much easier time hitting a moving target. Im right handed/ left eye dominant. Been shooting right handed guns my whole life with no issues.
Gonna throw you another wrinkle. you said he was left handed, If he plays baseball and is left eye dominant, he should probably bat right handed. I know people bat both ways but he should be able to see the ball better righty.

NOOOOOOOO! I'm right-handed but shoot "long guns" left-handed......why? Because I'm left-eye dominate......let him figure it out.

I agree with most in here.
Let his eyes decide.
If it turns out he needs to shoot lefty he should be able to shoot a right handed youth bolt action til he gets older.
Or buy a left handed rifle and a cheap aftermarket wood stock.
Cut the stock to fit your son.

Except you have to close your left eye to shoot with the less dominant eye. Watch the best shooters in the world, most have both eyes open.

He should shoot based on his dominant eye rather than dominant hand
This.
My grandfather was right handed and left eye dominant. He shot everything left handed.

Has anyone suggested figuring out which eye is dominant?

If he's right eye dominant and left handed, put a baseball bat in his hand...
