Taxidermist in BR with Velvet experience

Any recomendations on the best Taxidermist in the Baton Rouge area who has experience mounting deer in full velvet? I am saying Baton Rouge because I assume time is a serious factor in preserving the velvet. Any other tips on caring for or preparing this deer to make sure it is preserved properly? (Not my deer btw, but was shot in LA and is currently on it's way back to BR).

Maybe it is not, I have no idea because I haven't seen very many killed around here still in velvet. Dude has killed more than a couple wall hangers and said this one tops them all. He wants to make sure it's done right.

get them in a freezer ASAP to preserve
there are several methods including (1) alternate soaking in borax and alcohol , (2) generously brushing on formaldehyde and (3) freeze drying
call 3-5 taxidermists , ask questions, to see who has has had prior successful experience with velvet
I would not limit myself geographically to only BR .... find the BEST taxi available who knows what he's doing

Thanks, any you would recommend? Google told me velvet does need to be handled carefully.

velvet is a living membrane which is why it needs to be handled with caution , heat is your worst enemy . I would freeze it to minimize breakdown. Also if the velvet is not done properly, bugs will eventually find it and ruin the mount
I'm not familiar wit taxis in BR (I live in Laffy) as I would call Bischoff in Eunice or Gary Bell at Deep South Taxidermy (LAF) . Others can provide their recommendations
Bischoff $$ will be higher than giraffe nuts with a 18-24 month wait. On the bright side, I've seen his deer mounts from 30 yrs ago and they still look incredible like they were done yesterday ... his work is the real deal
go to taxidermy.net to do additional research on caring for velvet antlers

I might add that jay womack , in the link I gave above, only does deer no fish or small game. Last time I talked to him he was doing over 200 a year if I remember right. Said he had a good system down and got mine back within 6 months.

I've used Jay Womack as well. Good work.

I use Lonnie Adams in Thibodaux. He's done velvet bucks for our club in the past and they turned out great
He usually has my bucks ready in about 3-4 months after hunting season ends

I've seen plenty of deer at Womack's place in velvet.

Thanks for all the replies. He got it into the freezer this am so hopefully it will hold up until he can get it to a pro. Sounds like Womack is the consensus White Tail guy for the BR area. i will make sure to update as the project progresses.
