Getting a new gun for fathers day and I like the Beretta but I've herd that the Tausus is basically the same gun but 150 cheaper. Whats the OB's opinion on the two?

I've got the INOX. It is hands down my favorite target piston. Choose the Beretta...you will not regret it.

I would recommend the...
I've had a line on 2 different Ducks Unlimited versions and both times I couldn't make it happen because the sellers thought the duck head logo meant it was worth $300 more than it actually is.

Well Taurus did buy a Beretta factory in Brazil.
Specifically where the 92 was made. So, IMO, they are probably about the same.

$150 isnt a big difference. Get the original and dont look back.

Just get a M9 US made for $500 free shipping here (it was free shipping when I got my shield from this site, not sure about now because I'm on mobile)
LINK
I'd spend a little more and get the M9A3 myself

When I was a young Marine and wanted to purchase a handgun for personal use, I decided to pick a style that I was intimately familiar with and had shot thousands of rounds from.
The M9 service pistol is essentially a mil-spec Beretta 92FS, but my Company Gunny told me to save a few dollars and buy a Taurus. I did. In fact, I got a great deal on a Taurus PT92AFS.
In the Corps I spent more days as as an Armory Custodian than I care to remember and also served many enjoyable years as a PMI.
During that time I fired tens of thousands of rounds through several different issued M9's and thousands of rounds through my personal 92AFS.
Believe me when I tell you...
There is no appreciable difference other than the price.
Buy a Taurus and spend the money you save on ammo!

The safety/decocker is on the frame on the Taurus and on the slide of the Beretta.

Besides just what lefty said, you're going to get a MUCH worse finish on the Taurus. The Beretta finish will never have an issue with rust but I can almost guarantee you will see rust on your Taurus at some point.
Or if you want to try something even more different, get the Stoeger Cougar. It's what the PX4 is based on and is made on the same machines as the original Beretta Cougar. It's a great shooting gun.

I've shot an M9 and it's the only handgun that I can shoot as well as my single six.
If I was in your spot I'd get an M9. Such a sweet shooter.

The pistol on top... Springfield Army issue?

Beautiful... That's a nice comparison pic between a plunger and lever trigger too.
