My wife caught a LA Department of Wildflife and Fisheries tagged redfish this morning fishing out of Dulac. It has a number to call to report the catch and claim your "reward". Anybody know what the reward might be for reporting the catch.

Thanks in advance.

Did you record the weight of the fish, where and when you caught it ? It can't be much, should have just recorded data and released it.

She did not notice the tag so it went in the ice chest. I noticed it when I was cleaning fish. Didn't weigh it but she measured it at 19.5 inches and I know exactly where we caught it and the time we caught it.

Thanks for the replies.

If you call wildlife and fisheries and give them the number from the tag they will tell you where, when it was taged and how big it was at that time I caught one and did it interesting to see how far it traveled and how much it grew btw I got no money

TAG program will send you either a Tshirt, a hat or a fishing towel.

I always choose the towel- can never have too many fishing towels!

Could possibly be a fish my dad or I tagged. Where'd you catch it?

I just started tagging in Dulac as well. Nothing I've tagged so far would be that big yet but I'd still encourage you to report it.

The tagged redfish was caught on the Harry Bourg property in the back near what they call Kilroy. If you know the area there is a smaller canal that crosses the main canal. It was caught at that intersection along the bank. She was using a 4" gulp minnow under a popping cork. We probably caught 25-30 small redfish back there. The tagged one was the only keeper.

Yes. I fish that area too. I just started tagging a few weeks ago. Tagged a bunch of small ones right in there.
