Tacoma grille guards

Picking out a Father's Day gift and getting a grille guard crossed my mind. If I get one I'd like the replacement bumper style with the grille guard.
Any Taco owners on here have one? I know ARB makes a nice one. I've seen the smittybuilts and the body armors. Thoughts on any of these?
ETA: 2011

I'd get an ARB, but IDK if they have a bumper for the newest body style. With a replacement bumper, budget some heavier coils and shocks for the front end too, unless you like the nose down look. I've got a Warn mount and winch on mine and it's close to the same weight as an ARB. Had a leveling kit at first but those original equip springs squatted in a few short months. Went with ARB OME 886 springs and 5100 Bilsteins. Oh, and you'll also need upper control arms to adjust caster to a drivable level. Just put OME rear leafs on mine this past weekend so this shite never ends FYI. I might as well have bought a damn raggedy arse jeep.

about a month ago I put a 3" Toytec system all around it. Got the heavier springs, billistein 5100s and the OMEs for the rear too. VERY pleased with ride

OME and ARB obsession never ends. I have spent an ungodly amount of money on my LC 100 and I see no end in sight.

Wish I would've gotten my rear leafs when I did the front, got 'er nose down currently and it's bugging me. Might go cut a load of fire wood and haul around for a while.

I'm normally not a huge fan of metal bumpers, but that winch one looks clean. I like it a lot

That's exactly what I have on mine (with the ARB bumper). You don't need upper control arms though. My caster angles are with spec's and it drive perfectly.
I will say, those springs will not move, at all, unless you put the bumper and winch on there. I drove mine for a while before I put the bumper on and damn... Harsh.

quote:interesting, to get mine in spec with caster I had positive camber. Zeroed camber and she drove a bit squirrelly with the stock uca's. A bit squirrelly now too but I aligned it myself, I think it's toe that's the issue currently though.

I'd get any one but an ARB.
They are too flimsy.
Get on the tacoma forums and look around.
For quality, shrockworks, but you will wait forever for it.
I get a small fab shop in kentucky to build mine. RLC fabrication. The guy is cheap and he builds helicopters for a living. So all of his welds are well beyond what you should see on a winch bumper.
If he doesn't make one for your vehicle, ask him. I've bought two fronts, $730 each delivered, and a rear with tire carrier, $900 delivered. All custom made.
They all have 1inch recovery points and the front on my xterra weighs less than the stock bumper, grill, and aluminium grill giard that it came with.

Yeah Bear, I agree, never seen one that was too flimsy. The ARB looks like it could serve a purpose, the others I've seen look like a show piece.

If you use it as a frequent recovery point, or hit a deer, that ARB will bend.
I'm notorious for bending the corners in.
My first arb lost a battle with a doe. The insurance bought the next one, and I shoved the corner in making trails.
My current bumper, on a new rig, turned a big doe into burger. Difference between 1/8th and 1/4.

How heavy is that 1/4 inch plate rig?
