Where are you hunting?
We are in poplarville and haven’t seen much in the way of Rutting.

I also hunt in woodville and in Amite County. Seeing more daylight activity at home but I’d assume that’s due to minimal pressure. My son saw 6 yesterday morning from daylight until noon with 2 of those being bucks. They weren’t eating and were on the move.
The deer in woodville have been a little more scarce and seen moving primarily after dark on cameras.

I hunt in Centerville. Haven’t seen much activity. Rut is usually the week before or after Christmas. We’ll find a scrape here or there but most look old and haven’t been tended to lately.

In fact deer on our lease and around us have seemed to disappear. I’ll get pics of a few does with yearling at night from time to time, but nothing consistent.

I’ve seen 2 3.5+ bucks this morning. One was locked down with a doe, the other was frantically cruising for a mate. I’m surprised I haven’t heard them fighting by now.

We have a small track in liberty and killed two deer chasing the week before Christmas. This week they have disappeared.

Buffalo River, Woodville....

I have never seen as many fresh scrapes and large hookings as I have in the last 10 days.....in many years! And everything is wicked fresh! unbelievable....

I'm hunting near Meridian next weekend. Hope they're moving. My only chance of the season this year.

Greenhead,

As you know, I have cameras all over my place. Pictures have dwindled over the last 30-40 days, and I have only had 1 doe pass, then a buck follow shortly after. That was mid December.

Around Christmas, my mature bucks we’re moving a little but seem to have disappeared for the most part.

Pictures are very few and far in between now.

Had a nice 10pt on camera last night. Neck is getting larger but still not full go.

Younger buck’s definitely out during daylight hours feeling the extra testosterone.

I'm upstream from you, on the Buffalo west of Centreville - I'm seeing lots of rubs and a few scrapes but the deer seem to be locked up in a pen somewhere! My nephew saw a large buck last Friday that was trailing but didn't have a shot - and that was the only buck we saw all weekend (and we only saw three does). I keep telling myself the deer would be moving if this warm weather would just go away (and the full moon isn't helping much either). FWIW my plan is to pack a lunch and spend the best part of Sunday in a box stand the looks over a big creek bottom.
