How is this done?
Cut your trailer tongue and either bolt or weld the kit to each piece. That's not a good explanation but it was straightforward. I'll go take a pic.
It's a 3x4 Fulton swing tongue kit. Eta....

This looks like a job for my boat guy.

Same boat I have. I'm glad too. Thought I could easily fit the Ranger in my 24' shed just like my 18' Xpress with 115. I would've been shite up a creek without the swing away tongue.
In 3 months I have had no issues.

I recently bought a 16' duracraft CC and had to put one of these on the trailer to get it to fit in the garage.
I bought the Fulton kit off of Amazon. It's a great kit, comes with all of the hardware, even a center punch to start your pilot holes.
It uses 1/2" bolts so it's pretty heavy duty stuff.
I've had it since October so I can't give a long-term testimonial, but it's been excellent to me so far with about a dozen tows under it's belt.
Check out the video here: LINK
You'll need a reciprocating saw, QUALITY drill bits (be careful when those 1/2" bits catch, they'll torque your arm off - maybe get some drill grease), wrenches, and of course you will need to add to your safety chain so that it bolts on aft of the swing away.

Thanks for all of the input. It looks like I could handle adding a swing back kit pretty easily so now I need to focus on the boat.

I have one on my mud boat and it seems to be working ok. The tongue does have a noticeable sag in that area while hooked up.

My Boatmate Trailer for the Malibu has a folding tongue. No problems with it at all and the Malibu weighs in at around 4000 lbs. I wouldnt be able to fit the boat in the garage without it.
