Leaving GA Monday morning around 2a.m. will spend monday scouting and then hunt every morning until sat. Anybody got any advice to give a fellow waterfowler? Will either be hunting bayou meto or the white river, any of you guys got experience with either?

Make sure you’re north of the nets is all I can say.

I think you may have to hunt White River, as there are restrictions on when non-residents can hunt Bayou Meto ( I believe). I think federal WMA's are open all season to non residents but the state properties only allow non-residents during certain times of the season. Might want to look at the Cache River - i have hunted White River Refuge a bunch and it is awesome, and not nearly the crowds of Bayou Meto.

There are huge nets that reach 1500’ in the air the keep ducks from coming South. There are some good ole baws that risk life and limb cutting holes in the nets. That’s the only reason we have the ducks we got.

DU keeps replacing the cut nets every other day, so it’s a uphill battle. The nets are just south of Missouri and then backup nets around Stuttgart. They say the backups even split Stuttgart in the middle.

Be careful and Godspeed baw. Win one for the good guys

Yeah, I've heard meto is really hard to hunt because of the regs. And amount of hunters. I know some guys up there that run a guiding outfit. They were telling me something about a place that's called "the crookeds" at white river refuge. That's probably where we spend most of our time

Lol good luck baw... Meto is like the Wild Wild West. It’s a giant clusterfrick and as soon as the locals see an out of state license plate they won’t think twice to slash your tires, etc. Another thing is there aren’t a whole lot of birds around there right now. It’s very spotty some people are doing good in Stuttgart right now but for the most part it’s been a struggle. Specs and snows are everywhere right now though like normal so that’s what has been saving our hunts.

Just ask a local

Tell them you really aren’t concerned with mallards that you would be fine just shooting some wood ducks

If I kill any more mergansers or dos gris this season I will know who to call. You gotta climb 3/4 of the way up and cut to let the mallards through and start at the top if you want pintails... mergs and dos gris fly low so I will know you half arsed it

Try out the White River refuge in St. Charles, we have had luck at the North Unit in Buck lake, crowfoot lake, horseshoe lake.

My boss has 300 acres outside of Holly Grove near Stuttgart, I have never seen so many wood ducks in my life as he's got in the timber. I just hung up the phone with him, he said 6 guns only shot 8 mallards this morning
