Stoeger 3500 or Remington Versa Max

I think I know the answer to this already, but would like opinions on the Stoeger 3500 and the Remington Versa Max. I have an opportunity to get a brand new versa max from a friend who won it in a raffle for about half the shelf price, but have heard rumblings of the gun being a piece of junk. I have had another friend recommend the Stoeger, but I dont know a whole lot about it. TIA

I've had a Stoeger 3500 for 6 or 7 years. It has never failed me through many light and heavy loads during dove seasons and on the skeet range. If you intend to duck or goose hunt, you may want to get other opinions.
But if it were me today, I'd get a Stoeger 3000. I don't believe I have ever fired a 3.5" shell in mine, and probably never will since my duck hunting and goose hunting time and opportunities have gone the way of the dodo (not that ducks and geese require a 3.5" shell, anyway).

I picked up a gently used 3500 earlier this year and have only used it with 2 3/4" target loads for skeet shooting. It's a sweet shooting shotgun and I was surprised how well it shot after me not shooting a shotgun for about 20 years.
I'd recommend it.
I'd recommend it.

I would not purchase anything Remington.

Don't get the versamax.
If you're looking at the Stoeger 3000/3500, also look at and handle the Beretta A300 Outlander and the Franchi Affinity/Intensity.
I have the A300 and love it but people with the Stoegers and Franchis speak fondly of them as well.

Just got a 3500. It really is a great shotgun for the money. I don't have anything bad to say about it.

Stoeger is owned by Beretta.
Got my son a Franchise Affinity compact year ago this past Christmas. It's quite the gun.
Under Beretta: Benelli, Franchise, Stoeger.

Stoeger and it's not even close. I've absolutely abused mine and it's welcomed the torture. Great shooting, easy to clean, affordable shotgun.

Ive had the VM for 3 yrs now and have no issues with it. The other gun I was looking at getting was the Intensity. I didn't like the way this stoegers felt but I have never heard anything bad about them.

Franchi Intensity. You want Italian manufacturing over Turkish

Yeah I second that if you are going to go with something other than the Versa Max I would go with the intensity however keep in mind that is inertia driven and not gas if you care about that at all.

Vmax going on 4th season without a single issue. I have been looking at the Franchi and Stoeger in semi-auto 20gs tho.

The Vmax had a lot of issues when it first came out but they seem to have worked most of the kinks out.

The versamax is the biggest pile of shite I've ever laid my hands on. Giant piece of shoddy plastic. As long as the stoeger is better than throwing a handful of rocks, get that.
Or get A300.
Or get A300.

Doesn't Beretta now have a 3.5" gun at the price point of a Versa Max?

I shoot a 3500 and I love it, 3 seasons with no problems. My dad has a VM that also has had no issues in 2 seasons. I've hunted with it a few times and hate the way it feels, seems much heavier to me, the foregrip feels really fat to me too.

They came out with the A350 Extrema for $1000.

I kinda wish that I would have known this because I bought the A300 about 3 years ago and it only shoots 3". However, it's no big deal cause I only shoot 3" for the most part anyway and also own a Super Vinci in case I go goose hunting but I love the fit of the Beretta over the Benelli and would love to have just one gun that can cover both, but oh well.

M3500 all day. It is showing up every gun out there over $1000 and people have taken notice.
