Navionics 907p+ is the card that you want if you are fishing the marsh or anything inshore / offshore from florida to the tip of texas. The gold chips suck! Get the platinum plus (p+)

They are very good but expensive. Guy i fish with has the basin one and It is just like you are looking at the paper maps on your lowrance. Very accurate.

I do have one. I got the cocodrie map. I really like it but its just that map so if you go further than the limits you have to switch back to the map that comes with it.
Smoke, how detailed is that one? Like google earth detailed? Is it often updated?

I'm in the market for a new GPS. Can someone post a screen shot of standard mapping vs. the navionics map?
Also, does Garmin accommodate similarly good mapping products?

Both an iPhone and iPad have internal gps built in them you do not have to have cell service for them to work. I have the isailor app and it is free and I added for $4.99 the map of the Gulf of Mexico and works awesome. I have used it 100miles off shore with no problems. I did use it the other day trout fishing in shell beach and was not impressed with the way it worked in the marsh several areas we went showed that we were on land not in the water. Navionics has an app that is $49.99 the next time I go fishing in the marsh I am going to purchase it and see how it works. Has anyone bought this app and used it?

I bought the navionics app I think it was only $9.99 to have as a backup in my GPS craps out on me. Works awesome and has alot of other useful info sunch as weather, tides, currents, etc. that are all in one spot. Definately work the $10!
ETA: You select an area when you fist purchase and it will download the area selected to your phone and you wont need cell service to navigate!

It's the best chip out there, like google earth on your GPS. I don't know how often it is updated, but it is very very accurate.

Yes the Navionics 907p+ is the best chip out there hands down.
Navionics does not make a chip for any Garmin plotter. Garmin has their own chips & they suck. Navionics will work with just about any plotter other than garmin. Just go to the Navionics website & see which plotters work with the chip that you want to get.
Navionics Compatibility Guide
Tha navionics chip (907p+) looks just like google earth.
You can also change the view off of satellite & switch to one of these views:
Navionics does offer updates. You can get free updates for a year when u buy a platinum chip.
The mobile app is hands down the best smartphone app EVER!!!

Been having it for several years now. Paid full price for it when I got it. Imagine how pissed I was when a couple months back they were offering it for $0.99
Love it though. Definitely the best Marine Navigation App out there!

I have the Hotmaps Platinum South. It covers most lakes in the south plus the marsh and coastline for about 2 or 3 miles out. I feel it gives me the best of both worlds since I bass fish as much as saltwater.

There are forums out there dedicated to providing downloads to these kinds of maps and breaking the encryption...not that I would ever have done that . Just saying

Please elaborate, I've looked into this and came up with nothing. Not that I'm planning on it or anything

Nice Jsmoke. I'm sold.
We have a garmin and I was pissed when I saw a low rancor paired with navionics. It truly is the best.

This is a pretty good point. The reason I got the 907p+ chip is because 99% of the time I am fishing in saltwater. I fish redfish tournaments from Florida to Texas & that chip covers all the waters I may possibly fish. The coverage is more for coastal areas & offshore & not so much for inland lakes. anything in the 907 block is covered, but if you go outside that box you will need another chip. The hotmaps platinum south chip is going to cover much more freshwater stuff than saltwater. It still has a good bit of inshore info too, but this chip is more for freshwater guys as it had HD maps of most of the popular freshwater lakes. You really can't go wrong with either one. It just depends on where you are going to be fishing. Most high end plotters can hold 2 cards...
