On sale for 40% off with $10 shipping at Walmarks. Is this a total POS or a decent value.
LINK
My problem is that I have limited space and this one fits where I need it to and seems to be a good buy.

If it fits your budget and your house...yes.

Depends on the purpose of the safe. That one is fairly easy to break in to and not the best quality but like most locked doors will keep good hands off of potentially dangerous items.

Stack Ons are the cheapest for a reason...........

It's a pos, but serves a purpose.

That safe is basically made out of sheet metal and shitty fireboard. It really depends on what your guns, are worth to you. This safe can be opened with a pry bar in less than 10 minutes.

I spoke with a safe & lock guy down here about those budget safes. He said he could get into most of them in 1-5 minutes and that they should only be used to keep stuff away from little kids and whatnot. Basically a heavy lock box.
I wouldn't keep anything really valuable in it, but that would deter some criminals who were getting in and out quickly.
For a legit, fire-rated gun safe, you're looking at $3500 minimum

Most people don't want a $5000 safe to put $2000 worth of guns in.

So it's exactly like 90% of the gun safes people buy for much more at Bass Pro, Gander Mtn, etc.

The safe listed in OP only has 3 bolts. Mine has 12. However, a fire axe to the side and both are open in less than 10 minutes. Only real advantage of the nicer ones under 5k is the fire protection. I would worry that the Stack On would melt if the AC goes out for too long. Slight exaggeration.

Read this and get back to me. I don't care what people buy as long as they're armed with knowledge.

I know someone who just got this one for $1600. Not big enough for long guns, but you get the point

I won't say what I bought. I also won't say what my house alarm code is either. Sorry.
I will say that it's much larger than the one linked, 4 times as many bolts, and completely guessing, but can probably handle twice as much heat for twice as long.
I was able to get all this for less than it cost to replace one of my nice guns. Shop around and not at Walmart.

I have a Liberty Franklin 50. It's bolted to my slab. It's not impenetrable but will keep 90% of burglars out. It made sense to me to invest in a good safe. I have a lot of class III stuff.

You've got to be the most paranoid human on earth if you won't even say what brand gun safe you have in your house.
I'm planning to build one next year. From what I see offered on the market, I could easily build a safe that would require a torch to break into for a few hundred dollars and a few evenings of work. I can also get my hands on some ceramic refractory pretty easily and that would likely make it far more fireproof than most of the stuff out there. I'd recommend anybody who can burn rods build their own.
