I have had the same old Qbeam Marine Blue Max 1M candlepower light for ages. It's the old school one with the blue filter around the edge.

With the advancement in lights from Fenix, Klarus, Streamlight, Surefire and others in the decade or more since I bought this Qbeam, what's the latest and greatest spotlight?

I feel like there is a much smaller, possibly rechargeable option that will put out as much if not more light.

What you baws say?

I dont know how long the battery last on these but you could have another spare set maybe. Just came across them while in a youtube hole

Seem bright AF...but maybe more important in your use they have a long throw.

Why would you use a light and kill your night vision?

Just put a giant light bar on the front of your boat.

Had an azzhole on the ship channel sat morning with a 4' like that on his top drive boat. Guess his gps wasn't enough to tell him he was headed south.

Running at night without a light is dumb and dangerous. Floatsam, logs, etc. in small boats can spell incredible danger. Not to mention places like a marsh can change rapidly seasonally and with the tide, channels move.

Given that you certainly don’t need a 1 mil candlepower, but I’ve tried to find smaller 12 volt plug in Qbeams before without much luck.

As said above for just a 30 minute or less trip one way I’d think one of the newer rechargeable battery operated lights would be perfect.

So many typos on that site, I would be scared to trust it.

I've been running at night with a 25 dollar nilight bar from Amazon. No need to spend that kind of cheddar.

Hardly, blinding yourself and others navigating in the dark is dangerous. I guess you run around in the dark pimping a light bar?

Check out rak navigational lighting in farmaville. He custom builds led floods with navigation lights. Good guy to deal with he has a fb page.

Hard hat light with leads clipped to a battery. Can shine it any direction and use the toggle switch to keep from blinding people. Aircraft bulbs shine a long way and will take forever to burn out..

Yes, I plan to run around in the dark pimping a light bar.

For those that have never marsh hunted: everyone basically leaves from basically the same area and spreads out to their respective areas. I can think of only one time in 20 years someone has been coming back to the boathouse before daylight, thus risking getting blinded.

I don't really need a light bar, because I don't run with it like a headlight, I just hit it for a couple seconds in intersections or cuts in the marsh to make sure I'm making the right turns and also to alert anyone who may be crossing, that I'm there.

I don't drive toward or up the back of someone with my brights, but it's happened to me during duck season a lot the last few years.

There’s an idiot I saw last summer leaving the landing with them on his transom. It’s illegal to have anything other than nav lights on when underway, turning them on to check marks works fine but does kill your night vision.

For whatever the usage... The best value in reliable LEDs.

Those are illegal to use while underway on any navigable water way that falls under coast guard jurisdiction. As stated above anything that interferes with someone seeing your nav lights is illegal.

Also slow down. there was a bad accident last year because some kids were going too fast in the fog. If they had a light bar it didnt help
