How about 3 mains on right and two on left?

FWIW this was an illegal deer to shoot.

Here is the 3.5 that I misjudged. Only was out of the brush for a few seconds and about to move into another thicket.

And those other bucks are amazing, would love to put either on the wall.

don't shoot 3.5 year old deer on our low fenced property. Killing young deer isn't a good idea anywhere.

Culls are a different story, judging from his post he wasn't talking about a cull or management deer. Could be wrong though.

In all seriousness how do you guys determine a cull? Why did you shoot that spik seems to be a young deer first antlers possibly or do y'all look at specific genetics? Not judging just looking for info

When i say misjudged i meant age. Its my best buck to date and archery to boot. Ill take him any day. Like i said just got serious last year. Maybe one day i can let that walk by at 30 yards, not yet though.

I hunt in Tensas parish a little, on some plantations some friends own. I would probably let that deer go on those places. I am not, however, one of the guys that will say "never shoot a 2 year old buck". Hunting in the piney woods on a small plot of land, I shot a 2 year old 8 point last weekend. 18" wide, 8-10" G2s, bladed tines. Good mass for a 2 year old. Would have been beautiful as he was already a fine animal. Chasing a doe across lanes in the piney woods, if you think you have a chance to accurately judge an animal and get a shot at him you're full of shite. I hunt places you can get away with that, but fact is if you try it some places you'll have a lot of big buck stories you never got a shot at.

You already have, most likely. Most people don't realize they are shooting babies cause they have more then spikes on their heads. Look the old rule of "once a spike always a spike". Ask one of those idiots how many 4 year old spikes they've killed. That is also the reason 8pt or better rules are a bad idea. Lots of 1 year old 8pts getting killed.

Deer was moving in thick brush and could tell he was tall and very big bodied. Stopped him in a 10 yard open window with a bleat that sounded more like a retarded goat than a deer. Not my finest moment but it worked. Like i said earlier, my best buck and would shoot again
