Last year I planted about same time as usual and the seed never got a rain for 2 weeks. What are you hunters north of I-10 and south of 20 doing?

My plot looks like I would have sprayed round up at the moment. Never seen it this fry. I was thinking the same thing today. I have a feeling when the rain does come it won’t stop till we are water logged. Probably will just target mid September for prep and late September for planting

Don't narrow it down too much or you might not get any useful responses...

Planting a food plot anytime soon without about 5" of rain is hopeless.

Man I know what you mean. I been wanting to disc but think my discs won’t scratch the surface at this point. Might lose half of a 50 lb sack of seed in some of the cracks. Even the hogs have disappeared.

Bush hogged two weeks ago hoping we can get a couple of inches with this tropical system next week. Hopefully chop and plant first week in Oct rain dependent.
Was telling my buddy food plots an feeders will be money this year cus I’m pretty sure acorns will be non existent.

I believe that this heat dome is starting to break up and we will start getting some rain, but September is generally dry so not thinking we will get too much, but come October the fall fronts start pushing rain , of course that was not till November last year and may be a repeat but it will come, until then I will not waste sweat or diesel and just wait it out

I’ll wait as long as mid October if that’s what it takes. Just might change what I plant

Looking at this drought as a glass half-full scenario to finally invest in the long-haul vs. just fall attraction and plan on doing no-till broadcast of clover and chicory on majority around October…south Mississippi.

Finally planted some vetch this spring, and the deer were loving it. It's deep fried crispy at the moment

I sprayed a 1 acre plot in the middle of July and needless to say it’s flat on the ground now. I’m gonna wait till right before the first decent front end of September beginning of October and do a note till and hope for the best.

I stopped planting in September a few years ago and my food plots got way better. Typically 1st or 2nd week of October and my plots look awesome. I hit them with a shot of heavy nitrogen after a couple weeks. Since then have never looked better.

I plan on going prep this weekend and plant the last weekend in September. Maybe sooner if we start to see more traditional rain patterns.

I typically plant the weekend closest to October 15. It has worked for many years I won't change it this year. We sure can use some rain that is for sure, I'm cutting stuff around the house I haven't been able to get a tractor on in 20 years.

My summer plantings are hanging in there for the most part, vetch is getting obliterated same with peas and beans. To me it's amazing how resilient vetch is in these conditions.

Hoping last night's (and hopefully today's) showers bounce my vetch back

That rain last night helped, but we need a few more good rains just so that the seeds can get some moisture when it's time. I sprayed last weekend. I'm hoping to plant between September 23rd or 30th. I doubt the acorn crop will be worth a crap this year, and the drought has hurt all the natural browse on my lease. I bet they'll be on the food plots and corn hard this year.

I've got a fairly large backyard garden for growing vegetables that is pretty much lying fallow right now with the exception of about 40 okra plants and a few peppers.

The ground is so dry that it has developed huge cracks that my hand can disappear in where I'm not watering. I don't remember it being this dry for this long for several years now.

I can see where trying to plant a food plot to attract deer is a lesson in futility right now. Hoping for some rain soon.
