While some frown upon it, for suspended snapper a Tekota with a line counter on it is invaluable. I used to think it was for rookies, I am now hooked on them just too easy to find the depth they are at exactly and mop up on them in no time flat. I won't snapper fish without a line counter anymore.

Why would someone frown upon that?

I hate extra stuff that can break (like a line counter), so I just spool my spinning set-ups and smaller conventionals (like the Tekota) with Power Pro depth hunter. It changes color every so many feet so I know exactly how deep I am without the line counter. But very much agreed, being able to accurately duplicate the same depth drop after drop is essential in some situations.

Can't tell you why someone would frown upon it but I have had people on my boat that wouldn't use a reel with a line counter on it, I later found out they didn't know as much as they thought they did.

The colored power pro is nice too, I agree!

No doubt. I love it when jigging for blackfin on spinning reels. No more guessing, just watch the colors and boom you're on em drop after drop.
