This SOB slid into a classroom at my school which of course sen the kids and teacher into hysterics. He had to go.
ETA: I don't know if this helps, but after I gapped him with the shovel, it stunk.

Hognose?
I really can't say. Thick enough to be venomous but I don't recognize the markings.

Hard to tell from that pic, but I'd guess maybe cottonmouth?

Looks like a daimondback watersnake.

It's a young plainbelly watersnake.

Not cotton, not diamond. Either hognose or one of the southern watersnakes like yells bellied

Are its pupils round? If you can get close enough to strike it with a shovel you can tell this information.
If they are, then you could have been a boss instead of a pansy and have just picked it right up and released it somewhere else. I do not understand why people do not understand this.
Especially if it was a hognose (nose/snout kind of turns upward). Those are some of the most chill snakes I've ever had.

Watersnake. Not sure on the exact type though.

From a guy that got bit by a water snake I don't pick any snake up. It didn't hurt but scared me.
Looks like a water snake to me. Hard to tell without seeing the underside.

I want it to be a hognose badly for some reason. One of the absolute coolest critters. However, the last couple inches of the tail look nothing like a hognose tail.

Based on the shape of the head, not a hognose. the more I look online, it looks like a water snake.

Congrats on the Northern Water snake kill.

He shouldn’t have slithered his punk arse into one of my classrooms. Don’t start none won’t be none

OK...I admit...I laughed

Looks exactly like a dead one.

Northern Water snake
Right genus, but wrong species. See how the blotches near the head don't form bands on the snake he posted? That's how we know it's not a northern water snake (N. sipedon) but it is instead, a juvenile plain bellied water snake (N. erythrogaster). Either way, harmless water snake.

I was wondering about that difference between the two.
So in other words I could see the dance floor but couldn't hear the music.
Thanks for the info
