Slowing down fishing(update)

Gonna get back to my roots tomorrow. Gonna drive down to Fourchon and fish surf and side of the road.
Been a while since i've done it. Just don't feel like hooking up a boat and fishing the trestles even though i know i could get an easy limit.
Update- Got to Fourchon around 7:30. Hit a few side road spots. Kayaks everywhere because of the Paddle Palooza . Tide slow incoming. No bites at any of the side road spots. Headed to Elmers and fished a good spot on side of the road heading into the island. No bites. Headed back to Fourchon to fish the beach. No access at all to the beach.
Put the boat in just NW of Morans off old hwy. 1. Found some very small trout and one 15 3/4" redfish.
Paddled around for 2-3 hours and the tide had stopped.
Put the boat back in the truck and headed back to Elmers. As i was pulling in there was a guy getting our of a Kayak with a stringer loaded with huge trout.
Talked to him for a few minutes. He had fished the entire back bay and finally found trout on every case in the crashing surf at Caminada pass. Said they were hitting a submerging plug (guessing it was like a Catch 2000 or something similar)
I left with an empty icechest. Beautiful day though

Yeah, I'd much rather fish on the side of the road with cars going 55 mph +, than catch a limit from a boat.

you have a boat?

Limits aren't quite as easy when there are 400 boats next to you with live shrimp.

Same here. Especially when we get a calm weekend for the first time in ages.
Longer drive, fishing from the side of the road, less fish > shorter drive, fishing from a boat, more fish
Everyday day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Why does the objective have to be catching a limit? To each his own, but that sounds kind of dull. Half the fun of going fishing is actually going fishing.

I like to get away from people and reconnect with nature.
I would rather catch 3-5 fish all day in seclusion than limit out in a crowd

I fished LA 1 when I was younger, too. Not something I'd want to revisit vs fishing elsewhere. Have fun and be safe.

Maybe i'm just weird. I am going to go down with castnet and bateau in back of the truck. Bateau has no stickers on it but if i use paddle instead of motor i should be ok huh? Game warden can't do anything to me if i don't have a motor of any kind on it is my understanding.

I think you are correct. Doesn't need to be registered if it's not a motorized vessel.

A bateau in the back of a truck is a great way to fish hwy 1. Sounds awesome.
For what it's worth, I fished hwy 1 in a kayak with a trolling motor for years with no numbers. No issues. In the off chance you get a ticket, it's a cheap one. I'd use the motor until someone told me not to.

Think I may b doing something similar. Was gonna go slay the bream. Thinking of paddling to elmers from bridge side before dawn. Then hitting ponds on way home near the snake pit.

Go for it, reminisce and all, I'll be running and fishing, in a boat.
ETA, don't ease into any canals with gates you can get under.
