Went to Bass Pro the other day and was really liking the new Mako 19' skiff. Are there any drawbacks to having a skiff as opposed to a traditional bay boat? I predominately fish inshore. Anyone have any experience with the Mako's?

It depends on where you fish. Will you be crossing any large bays? If so, you will get the crap bear out of you crossing them when the wind picks up in a skiff.

From my research while searching for a used boat, stay away from anything made by Bass Pro. You can buy a very nice used bay boat for the same price as that Mako, and be able to catch snapper and cobia on nice days. Again though, it depends on where you fish.

I've not owned one, but I've not heard great things about current (post BPS purchase) Mako's.

You may want to look at Carolina Skiffs. You can have custom built out to your specs (decks, console, etc.).

Fished pretty much in a mako skiff about that size and it's a neat neat 2 man boat.
