Thinking about making the drive over from West Monroe to Shreveport for the gun show this weekend.

Most gun shows are just that, show. I like looking at the toys but in my experience, most of the stuff at gun shows is wayyyy over priced and I can find stuff locally priced cheaper.

Is it worth my drive or is it just gonna be another waste of time like other gun shows?

Monroe has a gun show coming in a couple of weeks but it's usually a joke.

Flame away.

I've never been, but I'm going to guess the answer is "no." It is a gun show, after all...

I've been to Shreveport show once before, probably not worth it unless you just want something to do. I live in Haughton, so may hit it for a little while. When I went last year, everything was basically retail or better, a few guys had packages with gun and ammo, which was really scarce at the time, so not bad. I spent about $20 on a knife sharpener...

Update: just left the show, sorry I didn't take any vasoline. Guys are trying to recoup money from stock they bought at height of prices last year. Can of 7.62-54, $119.00...

The ones I have been to have had some good stuff below retail. You have to get there early though.

Yep, I hear ya'll. IMO, the Internet has taken a lot of luster out of gun shows.

If someone wants a new 'toy', they can get it on-line now.

I usually browse around, maybe I can catch a good deal on ammo or something. sometimes you can find some novelity item.

Guess I will stay home and chop up some logs on the back 40.

Probably so.
I've been going to gun shows in Shreveport for longer than I care to remember. Seems like they were better years ago when I had the hope of seeing "Heather" there. OTOH, IIRC, in the email notification I got, it seems like the sponsor was not one I've heard of before. Maybe this one will be better. I"ll probably still go.

I'll be interested to see if prices have regulated. Also, you said a show was coming to Monroe... It's the same crew that travels around the state.

Do yourself a favor. Drive another 3 hours west and go to the SCI convention. I went today. UNREAL. Thousands of exhibitors. The taxidermy on display is unbelievable. Millions of dollars in fine firearms. More than you can see in a day. I was very impressed.

You won't find any Norinco yellow box .223 like we did 20 years ago. $2.50 a box individually, $2.00 a box if you bought it by the case.

We used to chop down pine trees with that stuff.

The good old days, should've bought it cheap and stacked it deep.

I'll be there on Sunday maybe.

I want to go to the boat and atv show the next weekend but I'll be out of pocket.

Last one I went to in Shreveport was in October or November. The vendors up there still haven't gotten the message that ammo prices (5.56) have gone down since Newtown. They were still asking somewhere in the range of .75-.90 cents a round in bulk. They bought high & still expect to sell high I presume.
Not worth the drive.
