Even as Obama spoke, thousands of gun industry members packed into the SHOT Show -- an annual trade show -- in Las Vegas. The show is owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, an organization based in Newtown, less than two miles from the site of the Sandy Hook school shooting.

Bapple,
Thanks for the info. LOTS of interesting new (and not so "new") guns this year.

-The one's I persnally find most interesting:
-The new RIA 1911's, including 9 mm and 10 mm chambering.
-Ruger Commander 1911
-Ruger SR-45
-Springfield XDs 9mm
-A new Metro Arms gun I read about last night, the "Bobcut." This is a Commander sized 1911 (4 1/4" barrel) w/ the bottom rear part of the grip cut off at an angle (called different names by different gun makers/gunsmiths, but most names all are a variation of "bobbed."). The idea is that bobbing that part of the grip reduces the chances of the grip "printing." Metro Arms also makes the "American Classic" line of 1911's.
-I read info last PM (but can't find it now) about a new version of the Walther PPS ____ (plus some other letters). It's basically the current PPS, but w/ a conventional mag release button. The picture I saw also looked as if it might not have an external safety lever.

I think you are thinking of the PPQ, Walther released a new version the PPQ M2 witht he standard mag release. These guns are supposed to have some of the nicest striker fire triggers out there. I have been looking for one.

I plan to continue to update everything as I go so if I forgot something, I'll swing back in and edit it later.

I know what a bobbed 1911 is. No worries.

But that does sound very interesting. My favorite bobbed 1911 has to be the S&W1911SC with the scandium frame. It is ridiculously sexy.

Bapple,
Don't worry. I didn't doubt for a second that you knew what a "bobbed" 1911 was. After all, I well remember your "riduculously sexy" S&W 1911!! That pic still makes me break out in a sweat! OTOH, I thought there might be some here who weren't familiar w/ a "bobbed" 1911.

I'll look for the Walther info when I get home. My work computer blocks me from the most useful sites....

For sure. Always helps to explain it to others...

I think it's called the PPX. Is that not in it my original posts?

There are always better choices. To this I ask...

How much are you willing to spend?

I think both my Beretta 90 two and my SW1911 are better made guns. But the Beretta was $700 and the 1911 was $1200. This is why I think the SR9c is a good buy - it's a good gun at an affordable price.

Not to rag on Sig though, because they make great guns as well. They are just at a completely different price point.

I can't put a dollar amount on that...If I happen to want it bad enough...after researching, holding shooting etc, then I just buy it...I know I'm getting the best deal based on who I buy through.

I wasn't disagreeing with you in your previous post, haha.

I was simply illustrating that there are two sides to the coin.

I hear you...don't get me wrong, I don 't just piss money away...I don't like spending large amounts of money unless it's something I really want or maybe need...I'd love to have a custom race gun just for the hell of it...but common sense tells me I'm not gonna use it for what it was made for, so I'm not buying one...anytime soon that is

I definitely agree, man.

My favorite is when someone wants to get a first gun for $250 and when I suggest a $400 gun they act like it's expensive. You get what you pay for...

I stand corrected; You're right. The gun I saw on a CTD email about the SHOT show was indeed the Walther PPQ, NOT the PPS. Shot a friend's Walther P22 once. Had a very nice trigger and trigger reset and fit my hand well. OTOH, I didn't like external safety lever (operates the opposite of most other safety levers) and was not very accurate for me.
