Something that is comfortable for YOU

I have used many many types and they all fit differently. Both super expensive and super cheap ones have been unbearable to wear for long periods and both super expensive and super cheap ones have been like heaven.

Just going to have to try some

Look into the electronic ones. Howard Leight are pretty popular. It depends on your budget a bit because you could spend from about $50 to over $300 depending on the brand and type.

I use electronic. Walker's Razor Slim and I have a pair of Howard Leight Impact Sport. Both came from Amazon around $50, I think, a couple of years ago.

Best electronic muffs out there for the money, but wearing them for several hours straight in the summer heat can get uncomfortable. I just got the Walker R600 rechargeable in ear electronic buds and they are nice, but considerably more expensive.

The MSA’s with the gel ear cups are the standard imo. You can wear them all day over glasses and they don’t hurt.

I bit off point, but I find these Surefire plugs:
as a perfect addition to cheap over the ear muffs. I have some green Remmington, cheapo shooting muffs and with the Surefires closed, see that little flap in the red one open?, I can comfortably shoot my 357sig indoors.

Howard Leight Electronic. Academy and Amazon carry them for around $55-70.

Get the Howard Leight, and order the replacement gel cups off of amazon. The gel cups make a huge difference on sound and comfort, especially with glasses.

Use what works and feels good for you. My favorite pair is a cheapo twenty buck plain Jane set of muffs and I do own fancy electronic muffs. I reach for the plain ones more often than not.

I will give one piece of advice if you're going to be shooting rifles, though: get slimline earmuffs.

Do they still hit the stock for you? I've never been comfortable with muffs and long guns, the stock always hits the muff

Not if I'm shooting something with a raised cheekweld. My ARs still rub, but it's not bad enough to throw off my aim.

If I'm by myself, I just roll with plugs, no muffs, though. The plugs I use are actually better than muffs for sound reduction. If I'm sharing the range or someone else shows up, I usually just throw the muffs on and double up because someone invariably shows up with an SBR chambered in .50BMG

MSA. Pricey but worth it.

Their fit with the gel cups is outstanding.

I routinely shoot at an underground 100yd range and my MSAs dampen the ‘reverb’ quite well.

Outdoor range? HLs or a similar brand.
