New paint job, slightly smaller body than the 200I series, bigger handle, and new gearing. Will debut in september at $179. I have three of the I's and wanted a 70 next, but these things look pretty nice.

I've still never paid over 100 for a reel.

These are about as expensive as I'll go. Believe me, I have bought my fair share of sub-100 baitcasters, but most of them are sitting in a milk crate on the garage and sound and throw like shite after one season.
At this price point, if you take care of it, it will perform better and last longer than 3 50 dollar baitcasters.

Maybe so. I've just had such great experiences with the H2O ones and combine that with my major switch to Crappie, and I just don't have any not performing well now.

The H2O mettles circa 2010 are the GOAT budget reels, but the last time I held one it seemed like they had made some changes, and the ergonomics aren't the greatest. When I started fishing more I really started to notice the little things like no soreness in my fingers from palming the reel all day that made the upgrades worth it.

Curados should be green

Also glad they're finally offering a reel with an 8:1 gear ratio.

I'm a bass guy, but a buddy and I shot docks on Toledo this year and hammered the perch. Great time and better eating. Grand total of 30 bucks between the jigs, rod/reel and heads. LOL
I'm also done with cheap baitcasters and Chinese rods, however. Old green Curado 100s off eBay and American made rods from here on out.

Picked up a Curado 70 on eBay brand new the other day for $145. Shimano guy told me the Curado70 casts about as good as anything in their lineup. I have yet to throw it. The new Curado is sweet though! I will definitely purchase one when it comes out.

Been a Shimano guy since the Old Greenies, after the last two series I'm done with them, have 4 Chronarch Ci4's that are torn down more than they work. They've replaced the spools on them all now 3 times and they still pit from saltwater over time, sideplates seize up on them if you don't keep grease on them consistently. The previous Chronarch series has a water intrusion issue around the handles which caused bearings to fail way to soon, the last decent reel they built imo was the Curado 50e. I'm in the process of switching over to the Lews Team Series, so far so good with a couple of the Lite models after 4 months or so.

Supposedly the new chronarch that's coming with this curado was designed specifically for saltwater. They may have recognized the issues you're describing. I've never been brave enough to take my good reels in the surf.
