I have a Maverick 88 Security that I simply don't want anymore. What's the best way to sell these days? Should I use gunbroker type sites or simply head to the local gun shops?

Gunbroker gives you an idea of what things sold for, but you may want to look at both. Maybe get an idea of value from Gunbroker and take it to a shop or two and see what they offer you. If you're wanting to trade they sometimes may give you a break on the price of a new gun with a trade in.

I think the site guns(dot) com will buy or sell used on consignment, not sure which.

Best budget shotgun out there.

It's the AK of pump shotguns.

I have one in buzz lightyear colors somewhere.

Agreed.

I'd deck it out - barrel shroud, pistol grip with telescoping stock, etc.

It needs work on the shell ejector. It only ejects successfully about 75% of the time. I would NEVER rely on it for defense and that is pretty much its only purpose.

I hear you. I'd keep it for casual shooting around the camp, varmints, whatever. I don't know if I'd sell it knowing it had a reliability issue.

Maybe a gift for a nephew or something?

Use MeWe. Most popular site in this this state as well as neighboring states for selling or trading firearms and ammo. Once you download the free app go to groups and look for Hunting and Sportsmen. Then a list of communities pop up and you can join as many as you want. Each will have likeminded users looking or selling.

I actually broke that thing down completely today and cleaned the hell out of it. I was able to cycle through about 30 shells without fail. I need to shoot it but thinking I may just keep it after all.

Lol, typical me.
