It's Italian and made by the oldest gun manufacturer in the world.

Does that clear things up?

assuming you're talking about the 92fs...

It's reliable and accurate, albeit very large and heavy for a 9mm. External hammer with a slide mounted safety/decocker. DA/SA, if you like that.

Can't change the sights without milling the front b/c the front sight is a part of the slide. I forget if the rear is the same or if it's dovetailed in there.

IMO it's to big for the caliber and capacity. Compare it to a glock 19 (same capacity) in a store and you'll see what i mean. A Glock 17 will have more capacity and be similar size, although still quite a bit lighter.

I have a 92FS INOX. It has a big frame, is heavy, and is rather large in ones hand. I have big hands and I even added a hogue over molded grip to the original grip for it to fit me even better. It is accurate and trouble free. I don't conceal carry it but could if in the winter with a jacket.

The 92fs was my first gun and I still have it.

The Beretta has gotten a bad rep among military guys as some feel it is not an effective gun/round. And with NATO FMJ ammo I would tend to agree. With modern defense ammo the 9mm is great as a defensive round.

Some claim they don't play well in the sandbox but that is a matter of debate.

In my experience it has been rock solid reliable and I have 2 92GE2's that each have 30k plus rounds through them with no gun related failures. Most torture tests conducted by the military have failures (usually locking block) occurring well above 100k rounds.

I think the Glock is a superior design but the Beretta is a reliable and proven platform.

Large frame combat 9mm. Accurate, durable, comfortable, not difficult to work on, plenty of parts and gear available for it. My 92FS is more fun to shoot than my 9mm Glock. The new M9A3 has improved ergonomics and a dovetailed front sight.

92fs was my first handgun. Still have it. Still love it. Never had any problems. External safety/decocker is what sold me, being my first handgun and all.

I have the 92fs compact model - 13+1 in a smaller version of the 92fs. Incredibly accurate and it has been reliable for 20 years that I've owned it.

I'm a classic (all metal) Sig guy, so the weight isn't a problem for me.

What I don't like about the Beretta:

1. Safety

2. Crazy locking block

3. Rust

4. Trigger

5. Sights

What I like about it:

1. Semi-easy to field strip and clean

....and that's about it.

A lot of guys love them. More power to them. The platform is just not my cup of tea.

Italian firearm companies that start with B should stick to shotguns. That's all I'm saying.

Spend the money, get the Sadlak. I have one on. M1A NM w/Leupold Mark 4. Rock solid. The M1A has a lot of mass moving during recoil, other scope mounts can move, the Sadlak doesn't.

I've got the opposite problem. If I shot it better, I'd like it better.

I've been shooting my 92fs for nearly 20 years. I personally love the platform and I am very efficient and accurate with the weapon. The only other handgun that I own that I can shoot just as well (if not better) is my PPQ. I guess it's a matter of preference/ergonomics with the sidearm. I've operated glock, sig, s&w, and Ruger. None of which handle better than my 92fs. Go try one out and see if it fits. It's a love it or hate it design. I happen to love it. The only issues I've ever had with it was a stovepipe problem, but that was a magazine issue. Yes it's heavy. Yes it's a bit cumbersome. The pros outweigh the cons by a mile for me.

It really pisses me off. I shoot it way better than any of my own pistols.

I'm a pretty open and honest critic of the platform, but - not so much a like, but a "it's not so bad" thing for it:

It's a full sized, all metal pistol. My experience may be more old school - I've had few polymer guns and didn't really like any of them. I had an old school, James Bond PPK as a pocket pistol for a brief period. Anyway, a lifetime ago, I was in a situation where I had to occasionally carry concealed, in the Balkans (don't ask). The 92 goes inside the waistband, under a sweater more comfortably and innocuously than you would think for a pistol of those dimensions. I'm sure my P226 would have been clunkier in the same configuration.

So, take that FWIW.
