Saw that Puglias is now selling these blades.
Filletzall

Supposedly they are universal for any reciprocating saw

That's great. Hoss charges $100 per extra blade

I saw this earlier and it just seems like tremendous overkill. Maybe if you're keeping large redfish or drum to do the initial cut, but other than that.....

It's not. We have a hoss at the camp and you can fly through a limit of reds or snapper like you could with trout with a regular electric knife. More time for drinking beer

Doesn't seem worth it over a regular electric knife to me? That video on their website was the same speed as an electric knife and you can buy a whole knife for like what $25-30? I mean using it on a King is laughable they are some of the softest fish around.

I've started using an electric knife on sheepshead, one guy cuts the filets off the other cuts off the skin. Works great.

Its definitely worth it for cleaning reds, drum, sheephead, and snapper. These types of fish with hard scales will burn up an electric knife. Simply cant hold up to the wear and tear from cleaning these fish. These are great tasting fish that can be a pain to clean (Especially if cleaning more than a handful).

I would never buy the "Hoss" at the price point they are selling it at. However you could purchase a sawzall on the cheap (pawn, craigslist, harbor freight) + these blades you could be under $75. That's worth it to me when your back at the dock cleaning fish in the afternoon and are trying to make it back home at a reasonable time. You can clean a limit of reds in under 10 min. with this set up.

We hired a guide who used a Sawzall with a modified blade to clean black drum. Worked like a charm.

What if a small one like the ridgid pictures above? It seems like using a regular sawzall would be a pain in the arse. Does anyone make one similar to the ridgid?

A lot of people (including myself) mistakenly refer to all reciprocating saws as sawzalls.

The product is marketed as fitting all Reciprocating Saws. I would assume this includes Rigid.

I would definitely see that being nice if they have a small battery operated saw. Using a corded knife on bigger fish can be a pain.

I tried one on a redfish. Hit the button and .00001 seconds later I had cut the fish in half.

I can take care of the reds with the hand powered dexter just fine.
