Satsuma tree - buds falling off

Ok, wasn't sure where to post this, but since the Satsuma tree is planted outdoors, I'll put it here.
Just planted a Satsuma tree about a month ago, took right away, lots of new leaves.
There's a ton of buds, which many have opened, flowered, and what I thought was a "baby" satsuma appeared. After a few days, lots of them are now falling off.
I read a few places where it said to water once a week in addition to the rain. Since it hasn't rained much, I watered them twice a week or so.
Any ideas on why they are falling off the tree?

Look for a very ugly caterpiller called an "orange dog."

Not enough water! The roots have not set in yet, so the only water it gets is immediately around the ball.

too early for orange dogs.
That's normal for the buds to fall. Its a young tree. you got 2-3 years before it produces

Agreed young tree. You might get 2 buds that develop into fruit this year, couple dozen next year, then you will have more than you can eat come year 3.

My trees did the same a couple of years ago, and it's now producing like mad.
I'm putting in a new satsuma this weekend, any recommendation on a soil blend to use?

DO NOT AMEND THE SOIL!
Use what you dig out. Amending the soil could cause drainage problems.
Use a little starter solution available at any garden center. Do not fertilize until you see growth and then apply a handful of 888 131313 around the drip line of the tree canopy.

This will be my fourth year for my tree. When I got it it had flowers on it. I think I got 7 satsumas that year, 9 the next year and then last year every single flower flew off and nothing. This year it's loaded with buds waiting to bloom.

Same thing happened to my lime tree last year. 36 the first year. Tons of flowers the second year and one lime. Now it has shown tremendous growth and has even more flowers than last year. [fingers crossed]

I lost all of my flower blooms as well last year. I bad storm blew them all off. The last couple of years I had to be on the look out for white bugs that leave a black chalk on the lower part of the tree as well as the "orange dog".

My problem is that I've got a bunch of pear trees that make way too many pears every year. I end up knocking a bunch off every spring so that the trees don't split with all the weight of the pears. In the fall, I just end up using most of the pears as deer food.

That shite will kill the bees trying to pollinate the flowers. Be careful. As for the orange dogs, I pull them off and feed them to our box turtle.

Aphids will secrete a black soot, as well as other sucking insects.
Spray the tree per LSU Ag Center recommendations with a systemic insecticide.
Sevin will not keep bees from pollinating, Sevin will kill the bees, again, spray trees per LSU Ag Center Homeowner Citrus Spray Schedule. You will be able to obtain everything they recommend from your local nursery.
