Sako L57 in .244

Saw this very decent shape rifle in this rare caliber, made in 1958. Do any on the board have an idea what this gun is worth?
The Sako collectors on line list this caliber as second most rare caliber. I'm learning more but need to make a quick move. This shop also had two other Sakos, in .338 mag and .300 HH mag. Unbelievable.

Do it.
What are they asking?

Isn't the .244 the same as a 6mm Remington?

Pretty much, except for different twist rate in the barrel. Ballistically, the 244/6m will match, and possibly exceed by a 100 fps or so, the 243 Rem. Here's some good info on the 244/6mm.
Cliff's notes version: Basically the 244 flopped because it's twist rate was fine for lighter/varmint bullets, but unlike the 243, the 244 wouldn't stabilize heavier/big game bullets. Remington changed the name to 6mm and changed the barrels to a faster twist rate. Nevertheless, the 243 had too big a head start and the 6mm never caught up. While the 243's parent brass is the 308 Win, the 6mm's parent brass is the 7X57 Mauser.
Here's a discussion from the Sako collector's forum about an L57 chambered in 244 Remington

Update
Trying to get the .244 for 600.
Three guns on consignment
Told shop to ask owner what he'd take for all three. They're trying to reach owner now. I'd drop two grand for all three in a heartbeat. Two larger caliber are like new-.244 shows wear. Damn why did I go into that shop yesterday.
My first 6mm is a custom built by a friend, Douglas barrel with an 03 action, manlicher stock. I will be buried with that gun. Puts 100 grain pills in virtually the same hole at 100 yds. He built another just like it in 222- he passed away several years ago, and his wife never liked me so I can't approach her about selling it.

From the aforementioned Sako Collectors Forum re: value of someone else's L47 in 244:
"the value is hard to tell with your pictures but if it is in excelent condition a 57 in 244 standard grade should bring upwards of 1000."
