Rx Sunglasses

I searched and did not find anything re: subject.
Father Time is catching up with me and I use readers, but now need glasses for driving (auto & boat) as well.
Do any of y'all wear prescription sunglasses? I am wondering how much I am going to fork out for a good pair of rx sunglassses. I do have vision insurance to help somewhat. For the record I have worn Costa's for years. Appreciate any input re: prices, brands etc.

I have some Costa Rx sunglasses and love them. They were around $500 with insurance. You just have to google which eye centers will make them for you. I love mine and would not be without them

Last pair I bought, I got them America Best. Paid around $70 but that was a couple years ago.

In. Wear contacts but after a day on the water my eyes are dry as hell and shot. But you almost NEED sunglasses most days.

I have prescription polarized sunglasses and I wouldn't fish or drive in the daytime without them. Costa does prescription but they have a limit on the correction. My eyes are too bad for Costas. I ordered mine from a discount place in Lafayette, Eyewear Express. They aren't a Luxotica shop (which means something to me). Totally pleased.

I wear transition lens. They go from clear to pitch black....and back again. They are Crizal lenses. They are also progressive..good for reading, seeing well up close as well as at a distance.

Was in the same boat as the OP a few years ago. I have Rx Ray Bans- progressive lens with +1.50. Got them at Target in BR. $250 with insurance.

A couple of years ago I priced some Wiley X. The girl priced them at like $225. They were a new vendor and got it way wrong. Called me and said they would be $650. I told them to keep them.
I had some years ago, but they messed with my depth perception. I could not hit a golf ball with them on.

As a former golf pro I have heard others say the same thing. I don't have to worry about that. Gave the game up and got my sanity back, I think.

Go w/ a cheap online company. If your insurance is like mine, they will pay for only one pair a year so that will be the non tinted indoor pair. You're on your own for the sunglasses. I used Zenni optical and they kind of suck as a company but my extremely light weight progressive glasses w/ no lines and 80% tint (not quite dark enough but you can still see indoors) and anti reflective coating were only $77. That's usually about $500 if you want something designer. They screwed up the first pair, but i returned them and got store credit and the second pair, while kind of ugly, are really light weight and perfect for me. Remember, they're sunglasses. How many of those have you lost over time?

Eyebuydirect.com. I ordered some for the beach 2 years ago and never had an issue. Takes about 2 weeks for them to get them to you, other than that though I will do business with them again.

I got Oakley polarized sunglasses last year at Lens Crafters. I was shocked at the selection they had and just as shocked at what my insurance paid. I got out of there for uner 300 out of pocket. For some reason I thought Lens Crafters would be junk as I had never been in one, I was wrong.

Good sunglasses are worth every penny IMO. Insurance works with most companies but some plans require to make at their labs if so that eliminates costa, Maui, and Oakley as they require use of their lab.
Either way the angle of the sun down here you won't regret good sunglasses.
