Anyone with one? How do you like it? Sub 2 MOA at 100yds?

Would be fun for target shooting. A little pricey but I'm thinking about it.

I'd get one in 7.62x39 for the cheaper ammo

I have the Mini 14.

Be sure to get a newer model because they have a thicker barrel. They are easy to pick out because it is tapered at the end. The older models have pencil barrels which have a history of being very inaccurate once the barrel heats up.

That being said the Mini 14 is not a tack driver. You will not get tight groups like you will with an AR 15. Mine shoots 2 inch groups at 100 yards. That is the best I get even when the barrel heats up. So I just threw a red dot on it and I have fun target shooting. I have probably put a 1000 rounds through it since my last cleaning and it is shooting perfectly. It eats any ammo I put in it even that cheap steel bear ammo.

It is a good woods gun. Just not a tack driver.

Man I've been asking around about these also. Such mixed reviews has me holding off. People either love them or hate them. And these are not heresay.

I have both of these and they're both fun to shoot.

My only issue with the Mini-30 is that it chokes on steel cased ammo. It's flawless with brass though.

The new ones are supposedly miles ahead of the old ones. They're supposed to be much more accurate.

That said, I'd get a mini 30. I'd way rather have 7.62x39 for killing shite.

I have a 14 and it's an accurate rifle with iron sights. Had to re-torque the gas block as it was shooting hard right when it got it. Dialed in now, shoots green tip well, too. The newer one's are 581 and 582 series rifles, that's the SN prefix. I'd say mine is definitely sub 2 MOA. $672 at the Walmarks.

My mini 14 ejects shells really far. Is there anything I can do to decrease this distance?

I have always said if I can't hit the target with my bullet I can just turn the gun side ways and hit it with my shells that are being ejected.

very common issue
you can adjust the gas block at the front of the rifle to decrease the force of the ejected brass

go to perfectunion.com mini14 forum and look thru there, there are many posts about doing it

Is this recent? Walmart still sell rifles? seems like everywhere online is showing near 800.

Saw one a few weeks ago, I'm in N LA. Same price as when I bought one two years ago.

My mini 30 ate cheapo ammo no problem, but only with the 10 round magazines. I never could get it to feed reliably with 20 or 30 round magazines, no matter what ammo i used.
