Rogers/ Silver Run Lakes Info

Does anyone here have any knowledge of Silver Run Lakes around Poplarville, MS?
I found out yesterday that the wife and I inherited a lot in this development. We drove up there yesterday and looked around. This was a planned development years ago and never really took off, it seems. Her grandfather bought the land many moons ago in hopes of it flourishing. The lakes are full of trophy bream and bass, according to the pamphlet I picked up there yesterday.
Here is the link to their website.

lil choup has won several of their rodeos....
also.. about 8 years ago I had a hand in improving the fishery there...
many many small bass very poor water quality and massive PH problems.. some of which were the lakes fault - some were something in the water shed. which have been corrected...

The lake has had poor water quality and over vegetation issues dating back to the late 1980's. During the late 70's/80's the lake was a fantastic bass fishery. Fish the old creekbed channel in the middle of Silver Lake which is bordered by stump fields on each side of the channel. A lot of small bass and an overpopulated bass population too boot so take out as many as you can catch. Great place to fish--Rogers Lake is or was open to the public.

It sounds like Sushi took care of some of that.

How big are the bream there? The pamphlet I picked up yesterday talked about Trophy size bass and bream. I have been known to drown a cricket in a heartbeat.

Now we are getting somewhere.

i will dig up some photos..
lake was poor until after katrina.. dam work required a monumental drawdown.. which was a huger opportunity to fix it...
the water quality is very good now..
actually we have caught a lot of BIG sac au lait trolling that stump row on the old creek bed.

How big is the lot? How many tents can we put on the lot for an OB weekend?

100' wide by 245' deep. I also have an excellent opportunity to purchase the lot next to it for pennies on the dollar, I was told.

If you change your residence to there you can. If you plan to hunt in MS. it would be worth doing it just to buy a lifetime then you could "move" back to your northshore address

Love the place. My uncle had a place there for 30 years. The Rogers are great people. They even have a little air strip if you have a small plane.
Great memories

You would have to totally change everything to do it. You would have to get DL,pax taxes, etc. You have to be a resident for 18 months before you can submit an application for a lifetime. It's also a felony if you falsify docs to do this.

I think Ms. 4LSU2 could get behind something like this.
Seriously, congrats on the new property. I know you and the little one will enjoy it for years to come.
