"I don't think Ben Franklin would want crazy uncle Bill to have a bump stock
I think a lot of common sense has been exchanged for paranoia.
Not one conservative thinks abortion is right and we have abortion clinics. Not one Bible Belt Christian agrees with gay marriage but we have gays marrying and boys pissing in the girls room.
keep on being tone deaf and paranoid, you will be on a 45 day wait for a slingshot l to have a bump stock [/quote]
No offense, but that is the worst possible argument I have ever heard. Do you think that the majority of Americans agreed with the Supreme COurt's ruling in Roe v Wade at the time? Do you think a majority do now? No it took activist judges.
Do you think the majority of Americans believe in gay marriage? No, it took activist judges. In fact, the most liberal state in the Union (California) had just voted and said no to same sex marriage.
And you may need reminding that just a couple of years ago, four out of nine Supreme Court justices said that YOU do not have a right to a firearm. So I can tell you that my support for the 2nd amendment is not because I am paranoid. It is because I know that they will take our guns without batting an eye.

It's not surprising. Fudds are amongst us. Also, anytime they say "I'm pro gun but" then you know they are not.

These are the things that make you people come off as crazy. Not unlike the rant hate for O. They are probably right about him, but they argue so so poorly.
Instead of just saying that it's a "poor argument" why don't you tell me why?

So what is the definition of "pro-gun Relevant to existing laws and regulations?

I’d love to be the sole dictator of all things gun related for the world.

You should go ahead and go down to your local Sheriffs department and turn yours in now.

quote:Look, I appreciate that you're well informed. I've done business with you several times , and honestly, our personal views aren't very far apart on this (other than I like old antique bang bangs, and you like new Lego For Men bang bangs). Frankly, I'd love to have an old Thompson in full auto with a drum, just because.
Thats a nearsighted strategy and, IMO, an awful tactic. We gain nothing from such a compromise and increase the grounds for further regulation on things like your right to own semi-auto rifles with detachable magazines. Don't you see they are using the previous "compromises" of the GCA and NFA as rationale for further regulation. Laying down here only increases their arsenal of precedents to further gun control. There are living case studies in America, such as CA, where you can see how far down the rabbit hole these people want to take these regulations. They all build on each other, gving them another building block puts you no closer to securing your right to own semi-auto rifles with detachable magazines, in fact it sets you back in securing that right.
But in this case, you're overthinking it. You're addressing points to contest with the anti-gun crowd. Normally, that's on point.
This isn't a normal time. Some jackass just killed 50+ people and injured dozens, possibly hundreds more (and caused many, many more due to stampede etc). The concessions I discuss isn't for the anti-gun crowd, it's for the otherwise neutral crowd that normally couldn't care less about the anti's, but that is currently looking on in horror and saying "whoa, something needs to change". THAT is the voting block that could push us to a Canada model, or a Great Britain model, if they are so inclined.
We need to present as sensible, mature and responsible to this crowd. Digging in our heels and saying "you can't take away my slide-fire stock, it's mine, it's legal and the 2nd Amendment says I can have it", right now, will alienate the vast majority of the country.
The NRA is pushing to regulate them. A Republican is sponsoring a bill about them. This isn't business as usual.
Again, I'm not in favor of banning anything. But like I said, SOMETHING will happen, and we can either be proactive, or get rolled over.
