You could launch at Manchac Pass and be right near Sun Buns and Middendorfs. A short boat ride to Tickfaw River for Prop Stop, Tin Lizzys, Boopalu's.
There is also a sand bar in Lake Maurepas right outside the mouth of the Tickfaw river that people anchor out and swim regularly

Thanks. I've been to the prop stop, but never noticed a sand bar on the way there. Also are any of those places you mentioned on the water ok for young kids?

Could always launch in Manchac. Middendorfs, Sun Buns, and The Fuel Dock right around the corner for eating and drinking, and South Pass is nice and wide for tubing/knee boarding/wake boarding. Also a short ride across Lake Maurepas to the sand bar mentioned above and Tickfaw River, if it's calm day.

When you say sandbar, how deep is it and are kids out there? I am picturing Crab Island.

Don't think crab island. It's about 2-3' deep and you'll want to stay a couple hundred yards off the shoreline.
You can see the bottom on a great day, but don't expect it. It's mostly Sandy and a little muddy. Still a great place to waste a day. Just look for the other boats.

Depends on how close to land you want to get, but some spots are easily waist deep on an adult. Could always anchor out then walk in closer to more shallow water though. And yes, plenty of kids always always out there.

Any beaches that are accessible by water where the kids can get out and play for a little while? It doesn't have to be just the Maurepas area

regardless of what river you are on in South Louisiana. If you are going to ski/tube, make sure to do it in the mornings before it gets crowded. Too many idiots down here don't know how to properly operate a boat.

Mouth of the Tchefuncte river has a small sandbar where people hang out. It's not super big, maybe a couple hundred yards.

we had one hell of a volleyball game going out at the north sandbar (mouth of tickfaw) several weeks back. Kids where plentiful.

Tin Lizzys and Middendorfs are kid friendly restaurants for sure. The Fuel Dock may be kid friendly as well.
Boopalu's, Prop Stop, Sun Buns, Gator's Den are all adult places.
If you are leaving Tickfaw River headed out into the lake, the sandbar will be to your right towards the shore line. You won't really know it's there by just looking unless you see other boats anchored out identifying where it is. I may be able to mark up a satellite map to help
ETA, Riverratrob has it labeled on his map....
