I met the guy that most of this book is about, Dave Hall, back in the 90's. He came and spoke to our Wildlife Law Enforcement class about all the undercover work he did infiltrating the Hell's Angels and cracking their walrus ivory smuggling operation in Alaska. He was one bad mofo. He talked about smoking meth with the leader and there being a human skull on his coffee table. he asked who's it was and the guy told him his ex-girlfriend.

I'd love to crack a bottle open and just talk with that guy for a few hours. Bet he's got tons more awesome and crazy stories

I have really enjoyed African hunting books and have read these multiple times:

Death In The Long Grass and other Capstick books - entertaining
Hunter by JA Hunter - a first hand account of the incredible life of an early white hunter and an Africa that no longer exists
A Hunter's Wanderings In Africa - another old time hunting book

Man-Eaters of Kumaon- hunting tiger and leopard man-eaters in India, great book maybe should have listed this one first

Old Man and The Boy - The outdoors and life lessons

I'd second the "The Old Man and the Boy"

This classic captures the endearing relationship between a man and his grandson as they fish and hunt the lakes and woods of North Carolina. All the while the Old Man acts as teacher and guide, passing on his wisdom and life experiences to the boy, who listens in rapt fascination
