Tikka T3 lite. I think that's in your price range.

I know for sure a ruger hawkeye and Remington 700 sps would be. All fine guns. The tikka will most likely out shoot the other two.

Rugers come with badass scope rings, so that's plus one for it.

Don't know about $600 but I held an HK MR762 at Gator Guns this evening and I am in love. I may start rat-holing extra cash for this gun.

lol just kidding about the tika being junk.. haha wanted to get you guys going! Tiki is fine but i do love savage... winchester, browning, howa, ruger.. i like them all except a remington. This is the one gun i wont own "sorry remy lovers". I have one remington and its a 20 gauge i won at a banquet. 2 safes full of guns and not another remington for me.

Its all good. Im not one to harp on one particular brand of anything. I am just so amazed by the accuracy, trigger, and feel of my tikka. Best purchase Ive made in a while.

I do love a good browning or ruger too. Its hard to go wrong with today's modern rifles, save rem 770's.

Two years ago I got a deal on a new SS Sako A7 in .30-06 for 650. They are pretty similar, the stock has a nicer feel to it, its got a 60 degree bolt throw (I think the Tikka is 75 degree) and it has the "override button" that allows you to lift the bolt with taking it off of safety. I bought it for my Dad so I don't hunt with it much, I shoot an older model Tikka m695.

In January, Winchester is coming out with a new rifle model (XPR?). No info yet if it is going to be an answer to the Ruger American and TC Venture "economy rifles" or Winchester's version of the Xbolt though.

Browning A-Bolt. Go to Gunbroker and see if you can find one new old stock. All of mine have been MOA out of the box.

Or if you can find a Steyr SBS/Safebolt in .308, you'd be in business.

Ruger Hawkeye or Winchester 70 (the Featherweight comes in .308 - street price might be just a little high of $600)

Ruger American would come in way under budget, so I'd bump up to the Hawkeye.
