Ragin Blaze Question: Boiling Large Shrimp?*

Getting ready to boil some large shrimp for some folk tonight and using the small pot I have for boiling,(80 quart), should I use two packs of the Ragin' Blaze Extra Spicy Elite Seafood Boil or one? Going to throw in some corn and tatters also fwiw..
Also, do y'all think ten minutes at full boil and ten minutes of soak is good enough? Or should I soak them longer?
are you Blazin'?
*this is now a Ragin Blaze thread, if you ain't Blazin', you ain't cool.. so gtfo

Ten minutes is waaaaaay too long to boil. 1-2 at most

Boil 3 min and make sure you dont put any salt in the water, or else the peelings will stick to the skrimps.

Cook your corn and potatoes first and take out, then adjust seasoning till it it spicier than for crawfish, bring to a hard boil, cut off fire and add shrimp, stir and they will slowly float then start sinking, when they start sinking take them out, they should be slightly undercooked, but will continue cooking in the shell
If you boil them for 10 and soak them for 10, you will never be able to peel them
If you boil them for 10 and soak them for 10, you will never be able to peel them

10-15 minutes for soaking. Might want to bring all the extra stuff to a boil first for like 10 minutes and then put shrimp in. That way your potatoes get cooked.

listen to the guys telling you not to boil them long. Boil the shite out of your veggies etc, take that stuff out, reseason the water, bring to a boil, drop the shrimp then turn off the fire.
Add a bunch if ice, cover and let soak. As soon as they are opaque they are done, the ice keeps them from overcooking and allows time for your super spice to flavor them

For every 10 pounds live shrimp
4 unpeeled onions
1/4 cup cayenne pepper
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 pound smoked sausage
20 unpeeled new potatoes
2 unpeeled garlic cloves
6 year fresh corn, husked
how to prepare
Rinse shrimp in cold water
Bring water to boil in pot(about 1/2- 2/3 full) When water is boiling, add the onions, cayenne pepper, salt and sugar. Cover the pot, bring back to a boil, and cook 15 minutes. Add the sausage and potatoes, cover, and cook 6 minutes. Add the garlic, cover, and cook 6 minutes.
Remove the onions, garlic, potatoes, and sausage and place in a large bowl. Cover the bowl tightly with aluminum foil and set aside to steam.
Add the corn to the pot of boiling water, cover and cook 4 minutes.
Remove the shrimp from cold water and drain in a large colander.
Add the shrimp to the pot of corn and cook 8 minutes.
Transfer the corn to the bowl with the potatoes and cover tightly. Remove the shrimp from the water, place in another large pot, cover tightly, and set aside to steam for 10 minutes.

I know the seasoning and fajita mix is awesome! I wish I wasn't allergic to shellfish, I'd love to try boiling with it.

Shrimp are very unforgiving when it comes to cook times. If they sit in hot water they will continue to cook, which is not a good thing. You can over spice and soak very little or you can cool the water and soak longer.
