I only know it by one name, which rhymes with "Bigger Moose", but don't know the real names of this animal.
Don't feel bad. I didn't know the real name until I was 20 yrs old or so. Pretty sure my father still doesn't know the real name. We taught my nephew to call them Bigger Meese when he was about 3. His mother wasn't happy.

Believe it or not... Anyone with an old La basic resident license, from the 50's or 60's... check out the back... There was always a list of migratory birds with the point system, and a NG, actual name, was listed...
On old coastal charts from the 50 and 60's actually had N***** Lake on it for Black Bay...
The best was when MTV had the first Real World out of New Orleans, the group was on a swamp tour out of Houma and one of the girls ask what type of bird was that, and the guide simply said a NG, which they all freaked out and the show was all about what the guide said....
One of the guys at my Uncle's work place always ask him for a goose. One hunt they decided to bring him a Cormorant which they brought to him already cleaned.. The guy's wife cook it... He came back to work the following day and told my uncle, 'I don't know what kind of goose you brought me, but it stunk the house up so bad, my wife had to throw the curtains away and the friggin dog wouldn't even eat it"....

I hate a damn cormorant.
There's an island on Lake Guntersville up here that those things ruined with their droppings. Killed the trees after roosting in them.
Apparently they took some massive dumps there...and burned all the trees and vegetation with the high concentration of ammonia/nitrogen or whatever...but man that place REEKS of dead fish and bird droppings when you go by.
Cormorants and seagulls...hate 'em.

Yep, they're also known to destroy bass habitats as well...
Kill 'em, kill 'em all....

Good thing I read this thread during lunch when no one was around. (I need some paper towels to wipe the spit off my screen)
