For a 250, the posts above about going bigger than 12k are accurate, the only trade off is you lose some wire rope. I think they only have 90 feet as opposed to 125+ on the others.

I wouldn't buy anything but Warn. If it's out of your budget... save up. you won't know the cheap one isn't working on until the most inconvenient time ever.

I wouldnt put a 10 k on a 3/4 ton period. Like Downshift said, need more. What your use to with the trailers and cars is pulling with little to no resistance compared to a 8k lb truck sitting on its axles. Always go up a size, or two if you can swing it. Not familiar with the winch you posted, but Ive been shopping them some and what Ive noticed on the cheaper ones is they either arent sealed or arent sealed good. If its going on a bumper it will be in the elements all the time and wont last unless it is sealed good to protect the motor. I was set on a 12.5k for my 3/4 ton and was going cheap, but decided to put that cheap one on a hitch mount and put a reciever on my trailer. That way I can keep it in my shop and use it on my trailer when needed, or if need be, stick it in a reciver on another truck (work trucks) if we need to carry it along on a bad job. Im going to get an old warren rebuilt that I have to go on my truck. Buying one used thats broke is another option, as its cheap to get the motor rebuilt.

yea, i went with this one bc it is completely sealed (as much as it can be) due the winters sucking arse up here. snow is just as bad of a problem up here as the mud in the summer

I'm not familiar with the zeon.

SNATCH BLOCK! GET A SNATCH BLOCK!!!!!

And as much tow strap as you can stand to haul around. Snatch blocking is pretty much a requirement unless you just don't have enough cable to reach.

Take care of it, pay attention to the duty cycle, and it should last a very long time.

For a 250, a 15k or 16.5 would be best. Mud is sticky sometimes and depending on how bad you are stuck, it can add the weight of your truck. Think about dragging yourself through gumbo sitting on your framerails

Even if you're not working it hard, a snatch block is a very good thing to use. Like ICS said, you should do it every time the situation lets you. Half the strain on your winch is always a good thing and double the pull is always a good thing.

Kinda space ship looking. Let me know how you like that synthetic cable stuff. I've been thinking about spooling mine up with it since my cable is so damn old.

Synthetic is good stuff. Doesn't chop people's legs off when it breaks, and is light as hell. Only downfalls are price, and if you use it in mud, unspool it after and wash it off. Helps it last longer.

Also, the sun dry rots it over 10yrs, so it is good to have a cover on it

Looks very heavy. I dont like heavy bumpers on IFS. I am sure that it will be fine though, just not my taste.

Get a snatchblock
Get a cover
Get a deep cell battery
Get a tree strap
Get a good anchor
Get a hilift jack for when the winch wont do a bit of good.

Got a letter back from dictation years ago. Was proofreading when I saw, "The tow truck driver removed the insured's vehicle from a ditch with a wench."

I had to ask my secretary why they were using unsavory women to remove vehicles from ditches.

My winch is mounted entirely inside of my bumper. Love it set up that way. Just make sure your bumper is set up for that winch. You don't want the plug for the controller somewhere you can't get to it.

Who makes that bumper?
