Looking to get back into the recurve game. Shot a bear grizzly before, anything else to look at. Not trying to spend a ton.

I read that as "I shot a grizzly bear before" and I was impressed.

The best custom bows I know of are Holm Made Bows. I think the guy is like Chad Holm or something like that. But he might qualify as spending a ton. Not sure what your budget is. He for sure has a Facebook page. Not sure if he has a Web page.

I have a vintage Bear Grizzly. eBay should reveal a few.

Go over to tradgang.com

If there's nothing on the classifieds, they can answer any bow question you can dream up.

If looking for cheap and decent quality, check out Samick. I have their Sage Takedown in 45lb and I think it's a pretty sweet bow. They can be had for >150 on amazon.

Disclaimer: I've had this bow since Christmas, have shot it only a few times, and have minimal experience in archery.

This. Just look for a little. Bought a 1969 Ben Pearson for $45 and it's solid. Bought a bowstring from another retailer and worked well

The only thing with buying vintage traditional bows is if you don't know what to look for, you can end up with a bow with twisted limbs, or delamination problems.

That must be new. I don't remember that being the case when I used to be on there more. You can still view their vendors list page though. There are some fantastic bow makers in that list. But, most of those are going to be more expensive, custom made bows. Probably not all of them though.

Archery talk has a traditional classified section, they get like 25 new bows a day listed its a pretty big list. You should have no issues finding what you want on there.

Mike is good dude, and makes great, affordable bows. My son has a small youth bow he made. I had one of his longbows for a while, and like a fool, sold it.

Went ahead and bought a kaliska recurve from Mike for $300 shipped. Looks like a nice one.

Sweet! I assume it's the one he has listed in the sponsor's classifieds? Nice looking bow. I like the looks of it, and I'm sure it will be a shooter.
